The Euro 3800 is designed for passionate wine connoisseurs with sizeable wine collections, featuring hand-carved accents and ample interior space for both racked and bulk storage.

Total Capacity: 458 bottles
Size: 63w x 31d x 91h (in)

Details

When a collection has grown past the point where a cooler or closet conversion can keep up, the Euro 3800 is the answer. Designed by Pinnacle Award-winning designer Martin de Blois, it holds 458 bottles — 408 in all-wood interlock racks and roughly 50 in bulk — and delivers genuine cellar conditions through an advanced CellarPro cooling unit with digital temperature and adjustable humidity control. The chocolate cherry finish, hand-carved trim and hardwood French doors with double-pane tinted glass make this a serious piece of furniture, not just an appliance.

The engineering behind it is what separates it from wine coolers and standard refrigerators. Foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation and sealed seams maintain thermal stability, while SB/0™ technology allows the cabinet to sit flush against the wall with top-vent exhaust — no clearance gap required. The CellarPro unit runs quietly, offers Energy-Saver and Quick-Chill modes and includes audible and visual alarms if conditions drift. Universal racking accommodates oversized bottles, so heavier Burgundy formats sit just as securely as a standard Bordeaux.

Best For

  • Storing a mixed cellar of 300–450 bottles in a dining room, finished basement or second home where the cabinet needs to look like furniture
  • Long-term aging of Bordeaux, Burgundy or Napa Cabernet where humidity management — not just temperature — matters for cork health over years
  • Collectors who have outgrown a single-zone cooler and need verified cellar conditions without a full renovation
  • Placing a large-format cabinet flush to a wall where rear-exhaust clearance is not available

Features

  • SB/0™ Zero-Clearance Technology: The cooling unit exhausts through the top of the cabinet, so no rear or side clearance is required. The unit sits flush against a wall, making it a practical choice for dining rooms, finished basements or tight alcoves.
  • 458-bottle capacity with double-deep racking: 408 slots are racked at 3 3/4-inch centers (wide enough for Burgundy, Champagne and other oversized formats) plus approximately 50 bottles in a bulk stacking area. Slot count and configuration are visible with the doors open.
  • CellarPro cooling unit options: Choose between the 1800QT-HE and 1800XT-HE based on the room's thermal load. The 1800QT-HE is the quietest option. Review the Cooling Unit Selection Guide before ordering.
  • Adjustable humidity control with digital display: The CellarPro unit manages both temperature and humidity actively, unlike wine coolers or refrigerators. An electronic thermostat with digital readout lets you dial in conditions for long-term aging rather than just short-term chilling.
  • Energy-Saver and Quick-Chill modes: Energy-Saver reduces operating costs during steady-state storage; Quick-Chill brings a newly added batch down to target temperature faster. Audible and visual alarms trigger if conditions move outside set parameters.
  • Foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation combined with double-pane tinted glass provides both thermal mass and UV protection throughout the cabinet walls and doors.
  • High Performance Air Filtration System removes particulates and odors from the interior air supply.
  • Keyed security locks on both doors; hand-turned pewter pulls; low-heat LED interior lighting; optional bottle probe for precise internal temperature monitoring
  • Warranty: 5 years on the cooling system, 2 years on the cabinet; optional extended warranty available

Placement Requirements

PLACEMENT & VENTILATION

Before choosing a location for your Le Cache wine cabinet, make sure the installation meets the following requirements.

BASIC PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Power: Standard grounded outlet on a dedicated circuit
  • Room Temperature: 50–95°F
  • Floor: Hard, level surface capable of supporting the fully loaded cabinet
  • Door Clearance: Allow approximately 1 inch of additional width in front of the cabinet for the doors to open 90°
  • Ventilation: Requirements vary depending on the cabinet and cooling configuration

VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS

Proper ventilation is essential. The cooling unit exhausts warm air, which must be able to dissipate without being drawn back into the unit. Poor ventilation can prevent the cabinet from reaching the desired temperature and may cause the cooling unit to overheat or run continuously.

SUMMARY

Configuration Minimum Clearance Behind Minimum Clearance Above Open Sides Required? Suitable for Alcove?
Upright Cabinet / Top-Vented — 12 inches or 18 inches Yes No
Upright Cabinet / Rear-Vented 3–4 inches 3 inches or 7 1/2 inches Yes No
Upright Cabinet / Top-Vented + Front-Vent Hood — 7 1/2 inches No Yes
Credenza 3–4 inches None required Yes No

1. UPRIGHT CABINET / TOP-VENTED

Our upright wine cabinets with top-vented cooling are designed so the cabinet can be placed directly against the rear wall.

Warm air exhausts through the top of the cabinet, while return air enters from above. Sufficient clearance above and around the cabinet is therefore required.

Minimum clearance above the cabinet:

  • 18 inches: Contemporary, Carolina, Loft, Vault and Semi-Custom wine cabinets
  • 12 inches: European Country, Mission and Gallery wine cabinets

Important: The sides of the cabinet must remain open so that warm air can dissipate. Top-vented upright cabinets should not be placed in a corner, enclosed space, alcove or closet unless a Front-Vent Hood is used.

2. UPRIGHT CABINET / REAR-VENTED

Upright wine cabinets can also be configured with rear-vented cooling, with return air entering from behind the cabinet. This configuration is useful when sufficient clearance above the cabinet is not available.

Requirements:

  • The cabinet must be positioned 3–4 inches away from the rear wall.
  • If the rear of the cabinet is not accessible, allow at least 7 1/2 inches above the cabinet so the cooling-unit air filter can be removed and replaced.
  • If the rear of the cabinet is accessible, allow at least 3 inches above the cabinet for airflow. We also recommend an air deflector to direct warm exhaust air to the left of the cabinet.

Important: The sides of the cabinet must remain open. Rear-vented upright cabinets should not be placed in a corner, enclosed space, alcove or closet unless a Front-Vent Hood is used.

3. UPRIGHT CABINET / TOP-VENTED + FRONT-VENT HOOD

A Front-Vent Hood can be added to a top-vented upright cabinet when:

  • The cabinet will be placed flush against the rear wall but does not have the required clearance above for a standard top-vented installation
  • The cabinet will be installed in an alcove, closet or other enclosed space

Allow at least 7 1/2 inches above the cabinet for removal of the hood and air filter.

Compatibility:

  • Contemporary, Loft and Vault: The Front-Vent Hood may be used with or without the decorative grille.
  • European Country, Mission, Carolina and Gallery: The Front-Vent Hood may be used without the decorative grille. The grille will not fit with the crown moldings.

4. CREDENZA

Credenzas do not require clearance above the cabinet; however, because both intake and exhaust ventilation occur behind the cabinet, credenzas require 3–4 inches of clearance behind the cabinet, and the sides must remain open for proper ventilation.

POWER REQUIREMENTS

The cooling unit plugs into a standard grounded wall outlet. The power cord extends approximately 6 1/2 feet from the rear of the cabinet.

The outlet must be on a dedicated circuit. The cooling unit components draw 3 amps, and the electrical outlet on the side of the cooling unit is also rated for 3 amps.

Do not share the circuit with another motor- or compressor-driven appliance such as a refrigerator, wine cooler, air conditioner or garage door opener.

We recommend using a surge protector rated for at least 15 amps to protect the cooling unit from power surges.

If an extension cord is necessary, use a grounded cord with 14-gauge wire or heavier, and keep it as short as possible.

FLOOR & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS

A fully loaded wine cabinet is extremely heavy. Make sure the floor can support the combined weight of the cabinet and wine.

The cabinet should also be placed on a hard, level surface. On thick carpeting, the cabinet may settle unevenly over time, which can affect door alignment.

If installing on thick carpet, place a carpet board beneath the cabinet. You may purchase one from Le Cache or have a local hardware store cut a 3/4-inch plywood board to the width x depth of the cabinet.

DOOR SWING CLEARANCE

When opened to 90 degrees, the doors extend approximately 1 inch beyond the width of the cabinet.

For cabinets without moldings, allow for this additional space when planning the installation. The extra clearance is required in front of the cabinet for the doors to open fully.

Please note:
(1) We count the top of the racks as 1 row when counting rows in our racks.
(2) Every slot in the racks is 3 3/4" and sized to fit oversized Burgundy and most Champagne-size bottles.
(3) Bulk storage is located atop the racks (except for the first row atop the racks). Bulk storage capacity is based on Bordeaux-size bottles.
(4) Total capacity is the sum of racked plus bulk capacity, with double-deep storage in all cases except the Contemporary Credenza (which is single-deep). Usable capacity may be lower by 2-3 bottles when the first few cells under the cooling unit are left empty for proper air circulation.

Q&A

Is the Euro 3800 freestanding or can it be built in?

A: The Euro 3800 is a freestanding cabinet. Le Cache’s SB/0™ Technology allows it to sit flush against the wall because the cooling unit exhausts heat through the top vent rather than the rear — no clearance gap behind the unit is required. It is not designed for a recessed built-in installation. At 63” wide x 31” deep x 91” tall and 510 lbs, plan your room layout and door clearances carefully before delivery.

What is the actual bottle capacity, and will it hold larger-format Burgundy or Napa Cabernet bottles?

A: Total capacity is 458 bottles: 408 racked slots sized at 3.8-inch openings and approximately 50 bottles of bulk stacked storage. The all-wood interlock racks use a universal design specifically sized to accommodate oversized bottles, so heavier Burgundy pinots, thick-shouldered Napa Cabernets and similarly large formats fit without modification. Standard Bordeaux bottles have even more room to spare.

Does this cabinet actively control humidity, or is it just a refrigerated cooler?

A: Active humidity control is a core feature, not an afterthought. The CellarPro cooling unit includes adjustable humidity control with a dedicated performance chart available from Le Cache. Standard wine coolers and household refrigerators cycle out moisture as a byproduct of cooling — the Euro 3800 manages both temperature and humidity simultaneously, which is what separates a true aging cabinet from a short-term chiller. This matters most for collections intended for multi-year cellaring where cork integrity is critical.

What are the electrical requirements, and which CellarPro cooling unit should I choose?

A: The cabinet runs on a standard 115V AC / 60 Hz circuit — no dedicated high-voltage line required. Three CellarPro unit options are available: the 1800QTL-ECX (2.4A running / 14.2A startup), the 1800QT-ECX (2.9A running / 20.1A startup) and the 1800XT-ECX (3.0A running / 20.1A startup). The right choice depends on the ambient temperature and insulation of the room where the cabinet will live — Le Cache provides a Thermal Load Calculations guide to walk through that selection. Note that startup amp draw can be significant, so confirm your circuit breaker rating before installation.

What does the warranty cover and for how long?

A: The warranty has two distinct terms: 5 years on the CellarPro cooling unit and 2 years on the cabinet itself. An optional extended warranty is also available for purchase. The cooling unit warranty is notably longer than most competitors because CellarPro units are manufactured in the USA and Le Cache backs them separately from the cabinet structure.

How loud is the Euro 3800 in a living space like a dining room?

A: Le Cache markets this generation of cabinets as featuring the most advanced and quietest CellarPro cooling units available. CellarPro publishes detailed sound performance data for each 1800-series unit — the 1800QTL-ECX has the lowest running amperage (2.4A) and is generally the quietest option among the three. For a dining room or open living area where noise is a concern, the QTL variant is worth reviewing against the published decibel specs before finalizing your cooling unit selection.

Wine cabinet Cache 3800

Carmen| 3/5/2023 6:00 am

We have finally received our cabinet after, returning it when they tried to deliver the first time. The delivery company wanted to leave it at the front door, which would not work since, we were supposed to have white gloved delivery.
It has now been installed and the wine has been placed in the cooler. The spacing is large and holds the large bottles. It would be nice if the space at the top had racks at least one side. Seems somewhat wasted space. Overall I am very satisfied with the cooler.

Great Product

jeff G| 4/23/2019 6:10 am

bought the 3800 and had delivered 4/9. I had a problem with delivery company and they did not level and therefore the unit would not seal correctly. But the team at IWA was very helpful and called moving company to come back out and level correctly. The one thing i learned is leveling the unit is very important and cannot be done with 1 person. IWA was great, delivery company was just OK, but had i known about the leveling before i could have avoided some problems. Great unit, good looking, great cooling unit. 468 botlle count is a little high, but i did get over 400 in unit.

Great Unit

Rob E.| 12/9/2011 12:00:00 am

Great unit, even more beautiful in person, you will be happy. Seemed to get to temperature within just a few hours empty, although I did not start mine up until sitting flat for 24 hours since it was sideways while getting through my door.

Be careful not to assume it will be white glove unloaded just anywhere. I originally wanted to put in the basement and was told it could be delivered there, Lucky for me I changed my mind before they arrived and found a better spot on first floor. However they mentioned had I not changed my mind they would not have brought it down the stairs. Also check dimensions not only where you will put it but front door and hallways to get it where you want before ordering. It comes boxed so you will want to allow a little more room too. It was tight but I was ok as it turned out.

Mine was delivered with a chip on the front rack but because they came out right away to replace the rack I was very happy with the service, and it was not a big deal.
Since I just got it I can't speculate on its longevity but seems very well built with a solid looking cooling unit.

Since I have it in a living area I was concerned about the sound. So I got the sound dampener with top exhaust and although it wasn't extremely noisy without it, I would recommend getting a dampener unless you are putting in a noisy room. Lastly I would buy a clock outlet or replug it with a flat plug because the plug it comes with is pretty fat (deep) and I bought the top vent so I could cut it into the baseboard and be flat to the wall and this caused an issue for me. If your plug is to the side of the unit you will only need to worry about the cord thickness.

The Right Decision

Terry S| 7/11/2011 12:00:00 am

The best compliment that I can give is that I would make the same decision again, buying from Le Cache was the right decision.

We couldn't be happier!

Robert W.| 4/10/2007 12:00:00 am

We couldn't be happier with the looks, workmanship quality, and quiet performance. The only problem is consumption vs acquisition capacity exceeds our ability to accumulate bottles (lol)! We have about 120 bottles so we have 350 vacancies.....
