The Euro Credenza evokes the timeless elegance of European furnishings, with a luxurious wood tabletop and convenient storage for prized wine collections.

Total Capacity: 174 bottles

Details

The Euro Credenza is the cabinet for a collector whose wine has outgrown the closet but whose dining room still matters. Designed by Pinnacle Award-winning designer Martin de Blois, it draws on European furniture traditions with hardwood French doors, crown and base moldings, hand-carved wood trim and hand-turned pewter pulls set against a deep Chocolate Cherry finish. The CellarPro cooling system inside manages both temperature and humidity actively, which is what separates a proper aging cabinet from a household refrigerator and makes this one worth the investment for anyone holding structured reds for the long term.

  • Integrating a serious collection into a dining room or living space without the cabinet reading as an appliance
  • Long-term aging of tannic Bordeaux, Napa Cabernet or Rhône reds that require stable humidity alongside precise temperature
  • A collection in the 100–150 bottle range that needs organized racked access for active bottles and bulk overflow space for incoming cases

What These Specs Mean

  • Running / Startup Amps: Startup amps reflect the brief current surge when the compressor first engages -- your dedicated circuit must be rated to handle this peak draw without tripping, not just the lower running draw.
  • QTL / QT / XT Cooling Unit Options: These are three selectable CellarPro 1800-series units that differ in compressor type, noise output and energy draw -- the QTL is the quietest and most efficient option, which matters for open living spaces.

Placement Requirements

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS

POWER REQUIREMENT:
The power cord extends 6 1/2 feet from the rear of the cabinet. If an extension cord is used, it should be 14-gauge wire or thicker, grounded, and as short as possible.

The cooling unit plugs into a standard grounded wall outlet. We recommend adding a surge protector, rated at 15 amps or more (for example, click here), to protect the cooling unit from power surges.

The outlet must be on a dedicated circuit. The components of the cooling unit draw 3 amps, and the electric outlet on the side of the cooling unit also is rated for 3 amps. The cooling unit should not, under any circumstances, share a circuit with another motor or compressor-based appliance, like a wine cooler, fridge, air conditioner, or garage opener.

FLOOR SURFACE
Because of the significant weight of your wine cabinet, it is important that it be placed on a hard surface; otherwise, the cabinet may become skewed if the doors settle unevenly over time. If you will be placing your cabinet on thick carpeting, consider placing a carpet board underneath the wine cabinet. You can purchase a carpet board from Le Cache, or you can have your local hardware store cut a 3/4 inch plywood board to the following dimensions: 45w x 25d (inches).

DOOR SWING CLEARANCE
The doors of our wine cabinets swing wide by approximately 1 inch when open at 90 degrees. The additional width should be accounted for when purchasing cabinets that do not have moldings because the stated widths of our wine cabinets do not account for the door swing. Please note that the additional width is required in front of the cabinet.

WEIGHT LOAD FACTOR
After loading your wine cabinet with wine bottles, it will be extremely heavy. When selecting a location for your cabinet, make sure that the floor underneath is strong enough to support the weight of the cabinet.

TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENTS
CellarPro cooling units are designed to handle temperatures ranging from 50 to 95F.

VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS
The cooling unit generates hot air that must be exhausted in such a way that it won't be recirculated by the cooling unit. If the hot air cannot be dissipated or channeled properly, and the cooling unit is forced to recycle its own hot air, the cooling unit will be unable to maintain cold temperatures inside the wine cabinet and/or will overheat and/or will run all the time. Proper ventilation can be achieved in one of three ways:

  • 1. UPRIGHT CABINETS WITH TOP-VENT CONFIGURATIONS
Our upright wine cabinets have been engineered with top-vent cooling units and SB/0 Technology so that they can be placed right up against the wall. In this configuration, the hot air generated by the cooling unit is ventilated through the top of the wine cabinet, and the return air comes from above the wine cabinet, so there must be clearance above and to the sides of the cabinets for the hot air to dissipate, as follows:
    • Contemporary wine cabinets, Carolina wine cabinets, Loft wine cabinets, Vault wine cabinets and a Semi-Custom wine cabinets require 18 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet.
    • European Country wine cabinets and Mission wine cabinets require 12 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet.
    • The sides always need to be open - in other words, placement in a corner, enclosed space, alcove, or closet will not work without our front-vent hood (see Configuration 3 below).
  • 2. UPRIGHT CABINETS WITH Rear-Vent Configurations
Our upright wine cabinets can be configured so that the return air comes from behind the wine cabinet. This configuration is useful in situations where sufficient clearance around the wine cabinet doesn't exist. In this configuration:
    • If the rear of the wine cabinet is not accessible, a minimum clearance of 7 1/2 inches above the wine cabinet is required for removal and replacement of the cooling unit air filter.
    • If the rear of the wine cabinet is accessible, a minimum clearance of 3 inches above the wine cabinet is required for proper airflow, and we recommend using our air deflector to direct the hot air exhaust to the left of the wine cabinet.
    • In all cases, the wine cabinet must be placed 3-4 inches away from the rear wall.
    • The sides always need to be open - in other words, placement in a corner, enclosed space, alcove, or closet will not work without our front-vent hood (see Configuration 3 below).
  • 3. UPRIGHT CABINETS with Front-Vent Hoods
If you want to place the wine cabinet flush against the wall but you don't have the required clearance (as outlined in Configuration 1 above), or you want to place the wine cabinet in an enclosed space, closet, or alcove, our front-vent hood (placed on top of the wine cabinet) can be used with 7 1/2 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet for removal of the hood and the air filter. Please note:
    • Contemporary wine cabinets, Loft wine cabinets and Vault wine cabinets can use our front vent hood with OR without the decorative grill.
    • European Country wine cabinets, Mission wine cabinets and Carolina wine cabinets can use our front vent hood without the decorative grill (the decorative grill will not fit with crown moldings).

4. CREDENZA WINE CABINETS
Credenza wine cabinets don't require any clearance above the wine cabinet; however, all credenzas require 3-4 inches of space behind the wine cabinet because all the ventilation (intake and exhaust) occurs behind the cabinet.

Please note:
(1) We count the top of the racks as 1 row when counting rows in our racks.
(2) Every slot in the racks is 3 3/4" and sized to fit oversized Burgundy and most Champagne-size bottles.
(3) Bulk storage is located atop the racks (except for the first row atop the racks). Bulk storage capacity is based on Bordeaux-size bottles.
(4) Total capacity is the sum of racked plus bulk capacity, with double-deep storage in all cases except the Contemporary Credenza (which is single-deep). Usable capacity may be lower by 2-3 bottles when the first few cells under the cooling unit are left empty for proper air circulation.

Q&A

Is the Euro Credenza a built-in unit or does it need to be freestanding?

A: The Euro Credenza is a freestanding unit only. It uses a rear-vent exhaust system that requires 3–4 inches of clearance behind the cabinet to allow heat to escape. It cannot be recessed into cabinetry or installed under a counter without obstructing that exhaust — doing so will cause the cooling unit to overheat and underperform. Plan for it to sit against a wall with that gap maintained.

What are the true bottle capacity numbers, and will it fit large-format or oversized bottles?

A: Total capacity is 174 bottles: 150 racked slots at 3.8-inch spacing in a double-deep configuration, plus approximately 24 bottles in bulk (stacked) storage. The all-wood interlock racking uses a universal design that accommodates oversized bottles — heavier Burgundy-shaped bottles, Champagne and larger Napa Cabernet formats all fit without modification. If your collection skews toward wider bottles, factor that into your count since you’ll fill the 3.8-inch slots before hitting 150.

Which CellarPro cooling unit should I select — the QTL, QT or XT?

A: All three options run on 115V AC / 60 Hz and are made in the USA. The key differences are in startup amp draw and thermal load capacity. The 1800QTL-ECX has the lowest startup draw at 14.2 amps, making it the easiest on your electrical circuit. The 1800QT-ECX and 1800XT-ECX both start at 20.1 amps, with the XT offering higher thermal load capacity for warmer ambient environments. Le Cache provides a Thermal Load Calculations guide and a Cooling Unit Selection Guide to match the right unit to your room’s conditions — if the cabinet will be in a warm room or against an exterior wall with heat exposure, the XT is the appropriate choice.

Does this cabinet manage humidity as well as temperature, and how is that different from a wine cooler?

A: Yes — the Euro Credenza provides both temperature and adjustable humidity control via the CellarPro cooling unit and electronic thermostat. Standard wine coolers and refrigerators control temperature only; they actively dry the air, which dries out corks over time and compromises wines stored for more than a year or two. Le Cache cabinets are engineered for long-term aging, maintaining the humidity range that keeps corks intact and prevents premature oxidation. The foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation and double-pane tinted glass also provide thermal stability and UV protection that a cooler cannot.

What does the warranty cover and for how long?

A: The warranty is split into two tiers: 2 years on the entire cabinet (woodwork, hardware, seals) and 5 years on the CellarPro cooling unit. An optional extended warranty is also available for purchase. Given that the cooling unit is the highest-wear component, the 5-year coverage on it is the more consequential protection for long-term ownership.

What are the exact dimensions and weight, and will it fit through a standard doorway?

A: The Euro Credenza measures 71 inches wide x 31.5 inches deep x 40 inches tall and weighs 350 lbs. At 71 inches wide, it will not pass through a standard 32- or 36-inch doorway in its assembled form — delivery logistics and room access need to be confirmed before ordering. Le Cache offers inside delivery; verify that the cabinet’s path from the entry point to its final placement is clear of tight turns and narrow passages.
