Details

When a serious collection has outgrown a cooler and needs a permanent home in a dining room or study, the Le Cache Euro Credenza Provincial is one of the few wine cabinets that holds its own as furniture. Designed by Pinnacle Award-winning designer Martin de Blois, it draws on European country aesthetics — crown and base moldings, hand-carved accents, hardwood French doors and Cherry wood veneer — while housing a CellarPro cooling system that manages both temperature and humidity for long-term aging. At 71 inches wide and 40 inches tall, it reads as a credenza first and a wine storage unit second.

Inside, all-wood interlock racks hold 150 bottles in 3.8-inch slots sized for oversized formats, with additional bulk space for roughly 24 more. The CellarPro unit offers digital temperature control, adjustable humidity, energy-saver and quick-chill modes, and audible and visual alarms — the kind of active management that a refrigerator or passive cooler simply cannot deliver. Double-pane tinted glass and foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation provide thermal and UV protection, while the rear-vent exhaust design keeps the unit freestanding without special cabinetry. A 5-year warranty covers the cooling system and 2 years cover the full cabinet.

What These Specs Mean

  • Running vs. Startup Amps: The startup figure is a brief inrush draw that occurs the moment the compressor first cycles on; confirm your dedicated circuit can handle the listed startup amps without tripping before installation.
  • Cooling Unit Models (QTL / QT / XT): Each suffix designates a different compressor configuration with distinct noise levels, energy draw and cooling capacity; use the Cooling Unit Selection Guide to match the right model to your room's heat load.

Placement Requirements

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS

POWER REQUIREMENT:
The power cord extends 6 1/2 feet from the rear of the cabinet. If an extension cord is used, it should be 14-gauge wire or thicker, grounded, and as short as possible.

The cooling unit plugs into a standard grounded wall outlet. We recommend adding a surge protector, rated at 15 amps or more (for example, click here), to protect the cooling unit from power surges.

The outlet must be on a dedicated circuit. The components of the cooling unit draw 3 amps, and the electric outlet on the side of the cooling unit also is rated for 3 amps. The cooling unit should not, under any circumstances, share a circuit with another motor or compressor-based appliance, like a wine cooler, fridge, air conditioner, or garage opener.

FLOOR SURFACE
Because of the significant weight of your wine cabinet, it is important that it be placed on a hard surface; otherwise, the cabinet may become skewed if the doors settle unevenly over time. If you will be placing your cabinet on thick carpeting, consider placing a carpet board underneath the wine cabinet. You can purchase a carpet board from Le Cache, or you can have your local hardware store cut a 3/4 inch plywood board to the following dimensions: 45w x 25d (inches).

DOOR SWING CLEARANCE
The doors of our wine cabinets swing wide by approximately 1 inch when open at 90 degrees. The additional width should be accounted for when purchasing cabinets that do not have moldings because the stated widths of our wine cabinets do not account for the door swing. Please note that the additional width is required in front of the cabinet.

WEIGHT LOAD FACTOR
After loading your wine cabinet with wine bottles, it will be extremely heavy. When selecting a location for your cabinet, make sure that the floor underneath is strong enough to support the weight of the cabinet.

TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENTS
CellarPro cooling units are designed to handle temperatures ranging from 50 to 95F.

VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS
The cooling unit generates hot air that must be exhausted in such a way that it won't be recirculated by the cooling unit. If the hot air cannot be dissipated or channeled properly, and the cooling unit is forced to recycle its own hot air, the cooling unit will be unable to maintain cold temperatures inside the wine cabinet and/or will overheat and/or will run all the time. Proper ventilation can be achieved in one of three ways:

  • 1. UPRIGHT CABINETS WITH TOP-VENT CONFIGURATIONS
Our upright wine cabinets have been engineered with top-vent cooling units and SB/0 Technology so that they can be placed right up against the wall. In this configuration, the hot air generated by the cooling unit is ventilated through the top of the wine cabinet, and the return air comes from above the wine cabinet, so there must be clearance above and to the sides of the cabinets for the hot air to dissipate, as follows:
    • Contemporary wine cabinets, Carolina wine cabinets, Loft wine cabinets, Vault wine cabinets and a Semi-Custom wine cabinets require 18 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet.
    • European Country wine cabinets and Mission wine cabinets require 12 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet.
    • The sides always need to be open - in other words, placement in a corner, enclosed space, alcove, or closet will not work without our front-vent hood (see Configuration 3 below).
  • 2. UPRIGHT CABINETS WITH Rear-Vent Configurations
Our upright wine cabinets can be configured so that the return air comes from behind the wine cabinet. This configuration is useful in situations where sufficient clearance around the wine cabinet doesn't exist. In this configuration:
    • If the rear of the wine cabinet is not accessible, a minimum clearance of 7 1/2 inches above the wine cabinet is required for removal and replacement of the cooling unit air filter.
    • If the rear of the wine cabinet is accessible, a minimum clearance of 3 inches above the wine cabinet is required for proper airflow, and we recommend using our air deflector to direct the hot air exhaust to the left of the wine cabinet.
    • In all cases, the wine cabinet must be placed 3-4 inches away from the rear wall.
    • The sides always need to be open - in other words, placement in a corner, enclosed space, alcove, or closet will not work without our front-vent hood (see Configuration 3 below).
  • 3. UPRIGHT CABINETS with Front-Vent Hoods
If you want to place the wine cabinet flush against the wall but you don't have the required clearance (as outlined in Configuration 1 above), or you want to place the wine cabinet in an enclosed space, closet, or alcove, our front-vent hood (placed on top of the wine cabinet) can be used with 7 1/2 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet for removal of the hood and the air filter. Please note:
    • Contemporary wine cabinets, Loft wine cabinets and Vault wine cabinets can use our front vent hood with OR without the decorative grill.
    • European Country wine cabinets, Mission wine cabinets and Carolina wine cabinets can use our front vent hood without the decorative grill (the decorative grill will not fit with crown moldings).

4. CREDENZA WINE CABINETS
Credenza wine cabinets don't require any clearance above the wine cabinet; however, all credenzas require 3-4 inches of space behind the wine cabinet because all the ventilation (intake and exhaust) occurs behind the cabinet.

Please note:
(1) We count the top of the racks as 1 row when counting rows in our racks.
(2) Every slot in the racks is 3 3/4" and sized to fit oversized Burgundy and most Champagne-size bottles.
(3) Bulk storage is located atop the racks (except for the first row atop the racks). Bulk storage capacity is based on Bordeaux-size bottles.
(4) Total capacity is the sum of racked plus bulk capacity, with double-deep storage in all cases except the Contemporary Credenza (which is single-deep). Usable capacity may be lower by 2-3 bottles when the first few cells under the cooling unit are left empty for proper air circulation.

Q&A

Is the Euro Credenza Provincial designed for long-term wine aging, or is it just a wine cooler?

A: This is a dedicated wine cabinet built for long-term cellaring, not a wine cooler or refrigerator. The distinction matters: standard coolers and refrigerators cycle humidity down to damaging levels and are not engineered for aging. The Euro Credenza Provincial maintains both temperature and humidity using an advanced CellarPro cooling unit, foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation and double-pane tinted glass that blocks UV. Adjustable humidity control, audible and visual alarms, and a digital thermostat give you the kind of environmental precision that fine Bordeaux, Burgundy and Napa Cabs actually require over multi-year storage.

What is the real-world bottle capacity, and will it fit oversized bottles like magnums or wider Burgundy bottles?

A: Total capacity is 174 bottles150 in racked slots spaced at 3.8-inch centers (double-deep configuration) and approximately 24 bottles in bulk stacked space. The all-wood interlock racks use a universal design that accommodates oversized bottles, so Burgundy-shaped bottles and similarly wide formats fit without modification. If you store a significant portion of wider-shouldered bottles, plan conservatively on racked capacity rather than assuming all 150 slots will be usable for your specific mix.

Can the Euro Credenza be installed built-in, or does it require freestanding placement?

A: The Euro Credenza Provincial is a freestanding cabinet only. It uses a rear-vent exhaust system that requires 3–4 inches of clearance behind the unit to dissipate heat. It cannot be recessed into cabinetry or placed flush against a back wall. If your remodel calls for a fully integrated built-in appearance, this unit is not the right fit — but in a dining room, living room or finished basement with adequate wall clearance, it functions well as a standalone furniture piece.

What are the electrical requirements, and will it run on a standard household circuit?

A: The cabinet runs on a standard 115V AC / 60 Hz outlet. Running amp draw is low — 2.4 Amps (CellarPro 1800QTL-ECX), 2.9 Amps (1800QT-ECX) or 3.0 Amps (1800XT-ECX) depending on which cooling unit is selected. Startup amps are significantly higher: up to 14.2–20.1 Amps at compressor startup. A dedicated 20-amp circuit is strongly recommended to handle startup surge cleanly and avoid tripping a shared breaker.

What does the warranty cover, and how long does it last?

A: The warranty is split: 2 years on the entire cabinet and 5 years on the CellarPro cooling unit. An optional extended warranty is also available for additional coverage beyond those terms. The cooling unit warranty is notably longer than what most competitors offer on their refrigeration systems, which reflects the durability of the USA-made CellarPro units used in Le Cache cabinets.

Who designed this cabinet, and how does it differ from other Le Cache models?

A: The Euro Credenza Provincial was designed by Martin de Blois, a Pinnacle Award-winning furniture designer. Compared to Le Cache’s taller column-style cabinets, the Credenza sits at just 40 inches high with a 71-inch wide by 31.5-inch deep footprint — a low-profile credenza format that fits under windows, along dining room walls or in spaces where a full-height cabinet would be too imposing. The Provincial finish uses premium Cherry wood veneer with hardwood French doors, hand-carved wood trim and hand-turned pewter pulls, giving it a distinctly European country aesthetic that differs from the more contemporary finishes in the Le Cache lineup.

A simply beautiful and impressive way to store your wine

by -

Wow! This is an utterly gorgeous piece. The wood detailing is top notch and finish is elegant and refined. The Credenza is a wonderful furniture piece that doesn't overwhelm a room. The counter-height top is so useful for decorative touches--or better yet to set your wine on while you consume! Pro tip: make sure to buy a surge protector BEFORE moving it into place, because you're not going to want to move it again to plug it in.
