Transtherm Universal Beechwood Shelf #7019
Overview
Add more shelves to your Transtherm Bastide Cellar. Can be used either as a stackable fixed shelf, or a single-level sliding shelf.
Details
When a Transtherm Bastide cabinet is already doing its job and you simply need more of it, this beechwood shelf is the straightforward answer. Each shelf holds up to 12 bottles and can be configured as either a fixed stacked level or a single sliding pull-out by repositioning the wooden dowels — no tools, no modifications. A single cabinet accepts 8 to 12 of these shelves; double cabinets take 16 to 24, which means the capacity math scales cleanly as your collection grows.
One compatibility note worth reading carefully: this shelf works with Bastide wine cabinets and older-model Transtherm and Castel units. It is not compatible with the newer Transtherm Ermitage or current Castel wine cabinets. If you are unsure which generation you own, confirm before ordering.
Best For
- Adding capacity to a Bastide cabinet without replacing the unit
- Deciding between fixed and sliding configurations after seeing how a rotation-heavy collection actually gets accessed
- Outfitting a double Bastide cabinet where 16 to 24 additional shelves can meaningfully expand bottle count

Q&A
Which Transtherm cabinets is this shelf compatible with?
A: This shelf is compatible with Transtherm Bastide wine cabinets and older-model Transtherm and Castel cabinets. It is not compatible with the newer-style Transtherm Ermitage or newer Castel wine cabinets. If you are unsure which generation your cabinet is, check the model name before ordering — the distinction matters and there is no workaround.
How does the shelf switch between fixed and sliding modes?
A: The shelf converts between a stackable fixed shelf and a single-level sliding shelf by repositioning the wooden dowels built into the shelf. No additional hardware is required. In fixed mode, shelves can be stacked to maximize capacity; in sliding mode, a single shelf pulls out for easier bottle access at a given level.
How many of these shelves can I add to my Bastide cabinet?
A: A single Bastide cabinet accepts 8 to 12 additional shelves. A double cabinet configuration accommodates 16 to 24 additional shelves. Each shelf holds up to 12 bottles, so a fully loaded single cabinet with 12 added shelves can hold up to 144 additional bottles beyond the base configuration.
What are the dimensions and weight of this shelf?
A: The shelf measures 23¼" wide x 20¾" deep x 1¼" tall and weighs 7 lbs. The low profile — just 1¼" in height — is what allows multiple shelves to stack efficiently inside a single cabinet without sacrificing usable interior space.
What is the shelf made of, and does the material matter for long-term storage?
A: The shelf is constructed entirely from beechwood, the same material Transtherm uses throughout its cabinet interiors. Beechwood is dimensionally stable in the humid, temperature-controlled environment of a wine cabinet and does not off-gas compounds that could affect wine over years of aging — an important consideration for long-term cellaring versus short-term storage.

Not a good value

Not the same shelf that is pictured, construction is ok but not the same quality of the original shelfs. Dose not fit may of the new Cabernet bottles or Burgundy bottles.

Cheap shelves

How bad could they be? They're functional. The old shelves were nicer, they had wooden grooves for the bottles. The new ones are cheap. Simple wooden slats hold the wine bottles in place. The wood is put together with visible staples instead of finishing nails. Only the top side of the shelf is finished with poly; the underside is unfinished and roughly sanded. I wouldn't mind any of this, but at $85 a shelf, you should get something with nicer construction.
Cheap Shelving

These shelves are beneath Transtherm if they desire a quality image. I bought this same unit 10 years ag when it was an Ermitage unit and the shelving was very good. that unit failed after ten years so I can use the old shelving,
These shelves might be good for starting a fire but are otherwise kind of embarrassing
