Transtherm Ermitage Glass + Alum Full Shelf #17045
Ermitage wine cabinets have 1 temperature zone that maintains ideal conditions from 43 to 64°F and 55%-80% RH for storing and chilling your wine collection.
This Ermitage model includes 14 adjustable rolling shelves (12 bottles per shelf) and 1 half shelf at the bottom. Using this configuration, the wine cabinet holds 182 bottles.
Placement Requirements: Ermitage wine cabinets require 3 inches of clearance behind the cabinets, as well as 2 inches of clearance on the sides and above the cabinets, and are designed to operate in environments ranging between 0-35°C/32-95°F. Transtherm cabinets use 120V / 60Hz power. Single cabinets require a 15-Amp circuit, while double cabinets require two (2) 15-amp circuits.

- Natural ventilation avoids mold and bad odors
- Absence of vibrations through slow and balanced compressors that are disassociated from the cabinet's body
Improved Control Panel:
The all-new digital panel provides integrated lighting control and multiple alarms with temperature and humidity alerts
The inner material has been upgraded from thermoformed polystyrene to Aluminum
Shelves can be adjusted to achieve the perfect height
Transtherm wine cabinets provide silent operation at 37 dBA
Removable Door Handle:
Steel and aluminum door handle can be removed, and is reversible on glass doors.
The walls of the Transtherm Ermitage cabinets are made of three successive thermal barriers. The internal walls have been upgraded to aluminum, and the exterior walls are reinforced at the corners by insulating sections, and injected with 4. 5cm high-density expanded foam to ensure optimal insulation.
Thermal Regulation: When the ambient temperature rises above the setpoint, a cold circuit, driven by a very slow cycle compressor mounted on silent-blocks, automatically comes into action. The cold circuit coil, made of aluminum, is within the aluminum back wall of the cabinet, for a better temperature distribution. When the amibient temperature drops below the setpoint, an electrical resistance, which is also within the back wall, will come into action and automatically increase the temperature.
Natural Ventilation: In order to avoid the mold phenomenon, which would generate bad odors and risk deteriorating the corks, the Transtherm Ermitage has natural permanent ventilation, based on the same principal as the thermal pump.
Absence of Vibration: Choosing slow and balanced compressors, as well as disassociating them from the cabinet's body, allows the elimination of all residual vibrations.
Thermal Pump: The thermal pump process, (a Transtherm exclusive), by reheating the condensation from the evaporator coils, recycles humid air in the cabinet and considerably increases the hygrometry value between 55% - 80%. This principle gives the cabinet natural ventilation and constant air circulation.
Electronic Temperature Control: Transtherm Ermitage cabinets are equipped with an electronic temperature regulation system that regulates the cold and hot circuits and maintains a maximum temperature variation of 2-3°F inside the wine cabinet.
Digital Display:All Transtherm cabinets are equipped with a temperature setting and control panel, featuring a LED display.

UPDATE - Unit no longer working. Horrible customer service.
by J -
Buyer beware. Given the complete lack of support from IWA and Transtherm, I had to hire a technician to figure out why my 4 year old unit, was no longer cooling. He had to do some major work on the compressor to even diagnose the problem (horrible design by Transtherm). $500 later and the fridge was back working... for 3 days.
The technician did what they could without ripping the unit apart, which is the only option now, a $1500 repair. They suspect that the aluminum pipes that cool the unit are leaking. Why do they suspect this? Because they've seen this issue with these units before.
To make matters worse. IWA did not respond to my e-mails within 48 hours so I had to call them. They stated that this was a 'rare' event and were not willing to provide any form of solution apart from offering 10% on a new purchase.
Ultimately, I am offended that IWA thinks I was unlucky and that I am stupid enough to fall for their measly 10% discount just to end up in this situation again.
Reply from IWA
J, we understand your frustration that the wine cabinet failed after just 57 months. Although your cabinet is no longer covered under warranty, Transtherm has made an exception and agreed for us to replace your wine cabinet. We're sorry that the process required some effort and appreciate your patience during this time.
Nice looking and quiet cabinet .. once delivered!
by Jim P
The TRANSTHERM ERMITAGE WINE cabinet has operated smoothly so far! Kudos to Bruce at IWA for working so hard to get this delivered to my somewhat rural location. Please be aware that the cabinet delivery process can be complicated by your location and/or difficulty of delivery. In my case the door needed to be removed before it could be delivered to the lower level of my house. Unfortunately the moving companies can not do this.. so have a Torx 25 screwdriver handy to do this yourself (quite easy, but the door is heavy). It is costly ($263) for the moving company to come back after I removed the door assembly. I've found the range of temperatures (51 - 57 for a 54 degree setpoint) to be a little more variable than expected for a nearly full cabinet. Very quiet, even as the condenser is operating. The bottle storage is somewhat problematic, with only Bordeaux bottles fitting 12 per rack (mostly 10 per rack). Looking forward to many years of use
So Far, So Good.
I have only had this fridge for a few weeks, but so far it is performing great.
Quiet operation - I have this unit near my living room and it is hardly noticeable. Just a slight buzzing when it activates. Much quieter than other leading brands.
Temperature - The fridge allows for a slight bit of fluctuation, and I have not yet had to test its ability to maintain temperature in warmer (summer) conditions, but so far no concerns.
Quality - The cabinet materials feel high quality and look great.
LED lights - They light up labels brilliantly when looking through shelves.
Adjustable shelves - The spacing is completely customizable which is great for storing larger formats.
Manual is vague - One of the most important features is left out of the manual. I had a problem with my shelves slipping off the track. After a conversation with IWA, we discovered the problem could be solved by adjusted screws on shelf track to widen the base. An easy fix that should be listed in the manual.
Shelves - They are very simple construction which can accommodate a variety of sizes. However, you will not be able to fit 12 bottles per shelf unless they are small Bordeaux style bottles. Odd sized bottles do not fit in the grooves securely which causes bottles to rattle around a bit when pulling shelves in and out.
Overall, this fridge is aesthetically pleasing and seems to be doing its job. However, it is hard to maximize the storage potential and the manual is very vague. Luckily, IWA's great customer services makes up for that. In the end, I think this fridge offers incredible value.
