Instructions for Failed Breezaire Cooling Units in Le Cache Wine Cabinets
If the Breezaire cooling unit inside your wine cabinet has failed, you can pursue the following options:
OPTION 1: PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT COOLING UNIT -
Today, all Le Cache wine cabinets use CellarPro cooling units exclusively. We switched from Breezaire to CellarPro in 2008 because we were experiencing too many quality, reliability and customer service problems with the Breezaire cooling units. CellarPro cooling units are made in the USA in our Petaluma facility, and feature the highest-ratings and best warranty in the industry.
To compare CellarPro and Breezaire cooling units, please click on the following link: Compare CellarPro 1800 vs Breezaire cooling units. For assistance in selecting the best CellarPro cooling unit for your wine cabinet, please refer to the following table: CellarPro Sizing Guide.
CellarPro 1800 Series wine cooling units measure 18"W x 16.5"D x 10.5"H, which are the same dimensions as most Breezaire 1060 and 2200 wine cooling units. Therefore, CellarPro 1800 cooling units should fit into the same opening without any modifications. CellarPro wine cooling units also offer many extra features that are not available on Breezaire cooling units, and include the best 5-year warranty in the industry.
If you prefer to purchase a replacement Breezaire cooling unit, please contact Breezaire for a list of their current dealers (we no longer carry or use Breezaire products, and therefore cannot sell a new Breezaire unit to you). Make sure to specify the ventilation requirements for both the intake and exhaust, as well as the configuration of the power cord. Don't forget to ask about the warranty - what's covered, who provides the service, how much it will cost, etc.
OPTION 2: CONTACT BREEZAIRE TO SEE IF THEY'LL REPAIR THE COOLING UNIT
Contact Breezaire to inquire about the cost of repairing your existing Breezaire wine cooling unit. The contact information for Breezaire is:
Breezaire Products Company
8610 Production Ave.
San Diego, CA 92121

OPTION 3: CALL A QUALIFIED LOCAL TECHNICIAN TO REPAIR YOUR BREEZAIRE COOLING UNIT -
You can call a qualified local technician to repair your wine cooling unit. To find a technician, look for a local company that does refrigeration and has experience working with Breezaire units. You might want to try calling Breezaire for a recommendation. Be sure to ask for a quote before authorizing any repairs (est cost: $300-$600), and for how long the work is warrantied (est warranty: 30-90 days)
Because the cost to repair your unit is likely to be half or more of the cost to purchase a new cooling unit, whereas the warranty will be just days or months, not years, we believe this is the least attractive option.
