Compressor

Which compressor is used in my cooling unit?

The compressor is the engine inside the cooling unit, and the single most important component. The compressor must be sized to fit the footprint of the cooling unit, the volume of the cellar and the targeted temperature and humidity ranges. It must also be quiet, vibration-free and reliable.


CellarPro cooling systems use quality compressors from Danfoss, a global leader in refrigeration products based in Denmark. Our compressors are oversized to achieve better performance and longevity.

Fans

Which fans are used in my cooling unit?

Fan noise is the primary sound that is emitted from wine cellar cooling units. Therefore, it is imperative that the fans are both quiet and, at the same time, powerful enough to minimize stratification inside the cellar AND create enough cooling power to operate effectively in warm environments.

CellarPro uses fans that are designed to produce low noise emissions and high output airflow. By generatng high airflow across both coils, CellarPro cooling units maximize cooling capacity and reduce temperature stratification inside the cellar. By sourcing specialized fans, we are able to keep the noise level of our CellarPro 1800QT cooling unit below 50 decibels when installed in a wine cellar, or the same as many refrigerators.


Coils

How do the condenser and evaporator coils work?

Oversized Condenser and Coated Evaporator Coils

 

Condenser coils are used to dissipate the heat generated by the refrigerant when it is compressed from gas into liquid, and therefore are located on the "outside" of the cellar.

Evaporator coils remove heat when warm air comes into contact with the cold surface of the coils. The coils are kept cold when the internal refrigerant expands inside the coils.

Coils should sized as big as possible within the constraints of the enclosure, the compressor and the fans. In addition, the evaporator coils should be coated to resist corrosion, which occurs when airborne pollutants come into contact with the coils. Left untreated, corrosion in the coils eventually will cause leaks and loss of refrigerant in the system, rendering the cooling unit incapable of removing heat from the cellar.


Our evaporator coil is coated with AerisGuard, a high performance epoxy coating. The coil is dipped, not spray-painted, for a better coating, and then baked to provide a chemical-resistant barrier against corrosion.
