Troubleshooting

SYMPTOM

My cooling unit keeps turning off.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

The cooling unit is equipped with a protection mechanism, which will turn off the compressor if the temperature exceeds 75° F. The protection mechanism is activated 45 minutes after the cooling unit is plugged in. If temperature is not reduced below 65° F within 45 minutes, the compressor will turn itself off. You may also see a lit decimal point in the lower right corner of the display.

The cooling unit cannot cool more than 25° F below the temperature of the air at the top of the wine cabinet. During hot weather conditions and in extreme environments, the air temperature insde the wine cabinet may rise to 75° F during the hottest hours of the day.

WHAT TO DO
  1. Reset the cooling unit as follows:

    • Unplug the cooling unit, wait 5 minutes and then reconnect it to the outlet;
    • Change the temperature set-point to 60° F;
    • Turn the light on and off;
    • Close the cabinet doors for 45 minutes.
    • After 45 minutes, open the cabinet doors and check the temperature on the display. If the temperature is still above 65° F, you will need to unplug the unit and repeat the procedure.

  2. Clean the coils on the back of the cooling unit.

  3. Consider using a bottle probe during hot weather conditions. With a bottle probe, the cooling unit will cycle on and off based on the liquid temperature inside the bottle, rather than the air temperature inside the cabinet. Because liquid temperatures change more slowly, the bottle probe will help override the protection mechanism during hot weather conditions. You can purchase a bottle probe on our website, or from any of our dealers, for around $20.

  4. If the cabinet doors have glass windows and the wine cabinet is located in a garage or another "extreme" environment, consider placing insulation on top of the windows during hot weather conditions to reduce the transfer of heat through the windows.

If you continue to have problems, please submit our Breezaire Inquiry Form and we'll respond to you within 24 hours.
