Wine coolers are small appliances that are designed for cooling wine to a desired serving temperature. Most of the time, wine coolers are placed in the kitchen and some are designed to be built-in under the counter. Wine coolers are great for storing wine at desired wine serving temperatures for short periods of time. However, wine coolers generally are not appropriate for long-term storage and aging of fine wine because they don't manage for conditions like humidity, vibration and UV rays. Bottle Capacity - Wine Coolers vs Le Cache Wine Cabinets

Wine coolers range from 12 bottles to 80 bottles in size, and almost all wine coolers are designed to maintain cool serving temperatures, but they do not maintain proper wine storage conditions that are required for long-term storage and aging of wine.

Le Cache premium wine cabinets range in size from 172 to 622 bottles. In addition, Le Cache wine cabinets can be placed anywhere inside the home provided that enough clearance exists above the wine cabinet (please refer to our Placement Requirements for more information) and with our SB/0™ Technology, Le Cache wine cabinets can be placed right up against the wall for minimal intrusion.

Moving a Wine Cooler vs Moving a Le Cache Wine Cabinet

Wine coolers that are freestanding are easy to move; however, built-in wine coolers are permanant additions and cannot be moved after they are installed. Le Cache wine cabinets also are freestanding and can be moved when desired. Naturally, wine bottles will need to be removed from the wine cabinet before it is moved, and the wine cabinet must be transported in an upright position (though it can be tilted to get through a doorway). During transport, we recommend placing blocks underneath the doors to protect the hinges of the wine cabinet.

The cost of wine coolers ranges from very cheap to very expensive. Wine coolers start at a couple of hundred dollars for the smallest-size units, and cost as much as several thousand dollars for expensive brands.
